What is the cheapest taxi from central London to Heathrow?
Kensington is the cheapest central London area, at £64 in a saloon. Paddington is £69 and Chelsea £71.
West London is on the Heathrow side of the city, so the drive is shorter than from the City or King’s Cross. If you are staying in central London, the fare depends mainly on how far east you are. See our Heathrow to London taxi page for every area.
How can I pay less for a Heathrow taxi?
Share the car, pick the smallest vehicle that fits your luggage, and compare the total with parking and train tickets.
- Share it. The fare is per car. Four people in an estate from Kensington pay about £18 each.
- Right-size the vehicle. A saloon holds three people with three large cases.
- Book both ways. The booking form applies any return discount automatically.
- Compare the full price. Ours includes the airport charge. Some cheaper-looking quotes add it later.
- Avoid surge. App-based cabs often cost more at peak times. Ours stays fixed.
Is a taxi cheaper than the Heathrow Express?
For two or more people, a shared taxi is often cheaper per head than the Heathrow Express, especially if you are not near Paddington.
The Heathrow Express charges per person and only runs to Paddington, so you still need a Tube or taxi from there. Three people in a saloon from Paddington pay about £23 each to the terminal door. For one person travelling light, the Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line is the cheapest option.
Is a taxi cheaper than parking at Heathrow?
For trips of more than a few days, two taxi fares are usually cheaper than Heathrow parking.
A return trip from Woking in a saloon costs about £114, and from Richmond about £114. Most week-long Heathrow parking bookings cost more than that, especially in school holidays, and you avoid the car park bus.
Are cheap Heathrow taxis reliable?
Yes. Every Esskay Cars driver is licensed, insured and DBS-checked, and every booking is confirmed in advance.
On pickups, the driver tracks your flight and meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name sign. Read more in our meet and greet guide.
What is the cheapest way to get a group to Heathrow?
Book one 8-seater minivan or minibus and split the fare.
An 8-seater from Ealing is £102, or about £13 each for eight. A 16-seater from central London is £312, under £20 each when full. See our 8-seater taxi to Heathrow page.
How much is a cheap taxi from Heathrow on arrival?
The same as the outward fare. For example, a saloon from Heathrow to Slough is £39 and to Kensington £64.
Pickups include the Heathrow parking charge and meet and greet at no extra cost. That is often cheaper than a metered black cab from the rank, and you do not have to queue.
Is it cheaper to choose a particular terminal?
No. Heathrow fares are the same for Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Choose the terminal your airline uses. If the airline moves terminal after you book, the price does not change. Just let us know so the driver goes to the right one.
What are the cheapest fares from Surrey to Heathrow?
From Woking, a saloon is £57. From Kingston it is £66, and from Reigate £73.
Surrey routes are mostly motorway, so they are good value for the distance. See our Woking, Reigate and Redhill to Heathrow pages for full fare tables and journey times.
What is cheapest for students and solo travellers?
For one person travelling light, the Piccadilly line is the cheapest. For students with a lot of luggage, sharing an estate or people carrier usually works out best.
Two or three students on similar flights can share one car and split the fixed fare. That is much easier than carrying a term’s worth of luggage on the Tube.
Do you charge for waiting if my flight is late?
No. We track your flight and the driver arrives for the actual landing time, with no extra charge for delays.
If your flight is diverted or cancelled, call us as soon as you can and we will rearrange the pickup if possible.
Can I add a stop to save on two separate taxis?
Yes. Add the stop in the booking form, and the price updates. A small fee applies for each stop.
This is useful if you are collecting a friend on the way or dropping someone off before the airport. One car with a stop is usually cheaper than two separate taxis.
Do cheap fares apply at night?
Yes. Our fares are the same 24 hours a day.
Many long-haul flights land at Heathrow between 5am and 7am, when app-based cabs often charge more. Our fixed fare stays the same.
Why do fares from the same distance differ?
Some short local routes have fixed local prices, while others are worked out from the exact distance and drive time.
That is why towns right next to the airport, such as Slough, Hounslow and Windsor, cost much less than places a similar distance away across busy parts of London. The booking form always shows the exact fixed price for your address.
Is a black cab from the Heathrow rank cheaper?
Usually not. Black cabs are metered, so the fare goes up with traffic and time, while a pre-booked fixed fare does not.
You will also queue at the rank after a long flight. With a pre-booked car, the driver is waiting inside arrivals and the price is set before you land.
Do you offer cheap taxis to Gatwick too?
Yes. From our area, Gatwick is often the cheaper airport to reach.
Fares from Crawley start at £33, and from Reigate at £37. See our cheap Gatwick taxi page.
How do I get my exact price?
Enter your address and Heathrow terminal in the booking form at the top of this page. The fixed fare for every vehicle appears in seconds.
