With an Esskay Cars meet and greet airport taxi, your driver is waiting for you inside the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. They take your trolley, walk you to the car and drive you to your door. You do not have to find a taxi rank, queue at a ticket machine or call around for a cab after a long flight. Meet and greet is included in every Esskay Cars airport pickup at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City at no extra charge.

It is the service most people want when they land, especially if they are visiting London for the first time, travelling with children, arriving late at night or simply tired after a long-haul flight. It is also the easiest way to book a car for someone else, such as a relative flying in from abroad or a colleague visiting your office.

How meet and greet works

  1. Book with your flight number. Use the booking form on this page, or call or WhatsApp us. Tell us the name to put on the sign.
  2. We track your flight. On the day, we follow your flight’s actual landing time, so an early arrival or delay is covered automatically.
  3. You land and clear the airport. Go through passport control and baggage reclaim as normal. This can take 20 minutes or over an hour, depending on queues.
  4. Your driver is in arrivals. When you come through the doors into the public arrivals hall, look for your name on the sign.
  5. To the car. The driver helps with your luggage and walks you to the car, which is parked in the short stay or official pick-up car park.
  6. Can’t see your driver? Call 0207 8400 344 or WhatsApp 020 3355 8186 and we will connect you straight away.

Meeting points at Heathrow

Terminal Where your driver waits
Terminal 2 (The Queen’s Terminal) In the arrivals hall on the ground floor, by the exit from customs
Terminal 3 In the arrivals hall, by the main exit from the baggage hall
Terminal 4 In the arrivals hall, opposite the doors from customs
Terminal 5 In the arrivals hall on the ground floor, by the exit from customs

Check which terminal your airline uses, as airlines sometimes move between terminals. If your booking changes, let us know and we will send the driver to the right one. See our Heathrow airport taxi page for routes from Heathrow.

Meeting points at Gatwick

Terminal Where your driver waits
North Terminal In the arrivals hall, outside the doors from customs
South Terminal In the arrivals hall, outside the doors from customs

Gatwick’s two terminals are linked by a free shuttle train. If you are not sure which terminal you are arriving at, check your boarding pass or the airline app. More routes are on our Gatwick airport taxi page.

Stansted, Luton and London City

Stansted and Luton each have a single terminal. Your driver waits in the arrivals area as you come out of the baggage hall. London City is a small airport with a short walk from the plane to arrivals, so you are often through in 15 to 20 minutes. Your driver will be ready for you as you come out.

What if my flight is delayed?

Because we track your flight, a delay does not mean you miss your car or pay extra. The driver plans their arrival around the actual landing time. If your flight is diverted to another airport or cancelled, call us as soon as you can. We will rearrange the pickup if possible, or cancel it.

What if I am held up inside the airport?

Long queues at passport control, lost luggage or a slow baggage hall are all common at busy times. If you are delayed after landing, send us a quick message and we will let the driver know. Lost luggage desks can take a while, so a message saves anyone worrying.

Meet and greet or kerbside pickup?

Some cheaper taxi apps only offer a kerbside pickup, where you find your own way to a car park level or pick-up zone and look for the car. At large terminals, that can mean a long walk with your luggage, a lift ride and trying to match a number plate in a crowded car park. With meet and greet, the driver comes to you inside the terminal, so there is no searching or phoning around. It costs a little more for the airport to provide, which is why some firms add a separate meet and greet fee. We include it in the fare.

Late-night arrivals

Many long-haul flights land at Heathrow between 5am and 7am, and plenty of short-haul flights arrive at Gatwick and Stansted close to midnight. Public transport is limited at those hours, and queues at the taxi rank can be long. We run 24 hours a day, and the fares stay the same at night. Knowing a driver is already waiting makes a late arrival much less stressful.

Travelling with children

Tell us the ages of any children when you book, and whether you are bringing car seats or a pushchair. We will send a vehicle with enough space. If you are travelling with a baby, it helps to bring your own car seat, so you know it fits your child.

Booking for someone else

Many meet and greet bookings are made by someone in the UK for a guest who is flying in. That might be a parent or grandparent visiting family, a new employee, a client or a student starting university. Just give us:

  • the passenger’s name, exactly as it should appear on the sign;
  • their flight number and landing date;
  • a mobile number they can be reached on in the UK, or a WhatsApp number;
  • the address they are going to.

You will get the booking confirmation, so you know it is arranged. The passenger only needs to look for their name.

Choosing the right car

A saloon takes three passengers and three large cases. An estate takes four people and four cases. Families of five or six should book a people carrier, and larger groups the 8-seater minivan or a minibus. For a more formal welcome, such as for a VIP or business guest, see our airport chauffeur service with executive cars.

Airport charges

Airports charge for parking while the driver waits for you. With Esskay Cars, that cost is already in your fare, so you will not be asked for anything extra. Our airport drop-off charges guide explains how the charges work at each airport.
